Multiscale Modeling
and Simulation of Nano Mechanics and Materials

Dr. Judith A.
Harrison is Professor of Chemistry at the United
States Naval Academy and has been on the faculty since
1993. She received her Ph.D. from the University of
New Hampshire, performing her graduate work in the area
of gas-phase reaction dynamics. Before joining the faculty
of the Naval Academy she was an Office of Naval Research
postdoctoral associate at the Naval Research Laboratory.
For the last 13 years, her research has focused on the
theoretical examination of nanometer-scale processes,
such as indentation, friction, wear, and tribochemistry
of hydrocarbon systems. She has been involved with the
development of several analytic potential energy functions
that have been used to examine a wide variety of phenomena.
For the last several years, she has been part of an
NSF funded Nanoscale Interdisciplinary Research Team
(NIRT) that is developing hierarchical and concurrent
multiscale modeling techniques. She has published approximately
50 technical papers including 4 book chapters and has
presented 80 technical presentations. She has won several
awards including the Naval Academy’s Research
Excellence Award and the Department of the Navy’s
Meritorious Civilian Service Award. She is a member
of Sigma Xi and the American Chemical Society. |
